KWALE BAJAJ.

KWALE BAJAJ.

So sometime August last year I was invited for an interview in Kwale County, well, as you all know me, i have always been a north coast guy so everytime i think south I think of the ferry stories and this thought messes me up - thanks to KeNHA btw for the ongoing Dongo Kundu by-pass project, soon we'll be driving along the mangroves of Port Reitz as we head to Diani.

Kwale town is rather a calm town compared to Mombasa, the Uswahili in it might make you think the people there know each other,it's one large compound with simple structures and scenic sceneries. Ever fallen in love at first sight?, that was me and Kwale!.

I spent the night there, enjoyed the coastal delicacies and sweet-toned music from a distance. i was nervous, actually i was lost in the moment as i contemplated on what the stone faced panel- who I was to meet the next morning would really ask. i did a lot of research on common engineering questions. i went through Kwale County official website, went through Road design manuals and even googled about myself coz there's always that kaQuestion.."tell us about yourself".

Personally, i felt good after the interview, i had aced it one hundred percent, well, let's say 99 coz one guy really screwed me up. He asked who's the Deputy Governor for Kwale and honestly i didn't know. I am only aware of the Govana, Hon. MVURYA.

One peculiar thing that really caught my attention that morning was the cost for Bajaj (Nduthi manze). I was dressed "to kill" so I opted for a nduthi to take me to the interview hall rather than walking myself there. After 3 or 4 corners we arrived at the county social hall and i had my 30 Bob ready. so the guy, Mr. Salim was like, hapa huwaga Mia mbili aisee, Kama huna chenji tutatafuta pale dukani haina Noma Jomba...
wait, just wait..how we've even arrived at Chenji and we've hardly covered 140 meters?, how?. I once took a bike from Mutomo to kasaala via Ikutha, a distance of 327 KM and paid just 50 Kenyan Money, so whatever this Salim guy was saying was utterly preposterous. The Christianity in me didn't want any heated argument, I obeyed the Caesar's rule. More so, Hata Waswahili wenyewe ndio walisema mgeni njoo mwenyeji apone!.
